Special Places Deserve to be Preserved

The unincorporated village of Omena, filled with mid-19th century charm, was designated a Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of Interior in 2017. Nestled on the shore of beautiful and tranquil Omena Bay, located on the Leelanau Peninsula, along scenic M-22, Omena is a special place for those who live here year round as well as for those who come visit.

Welcome to the Omena Village Preservation Association (OVPA) website. We hope you will visit our historic village.

We invite you to help us preserve picturesque Omena as it looked over a century ago.

“The residents of Omena take pride in its unique location and its beauty. So rest a bit on the bench of our historic post office. Visit with friends, take a deep breath knowing this little tranquil village will be preserved so that our children, grandchildren and theirs can enjoy that same feeling. Thanks to the vision of those who founded OVPA, and the commitments so many volunteer members have made since 2002, Omena will be inherited and cherished for years to come.”
